Main Objectives of the Program
To support NGOs that align with any of I-AAN's vision to empower women and girls, poverty alleviation, climate change advocacy and good governance, and social accountability
To enhance the efficiency and professionalism of NGOs in their areas of focus.
To build a strong network of accredited organizations to bolster collaborative efforts in I-AAN's vision to empower women and girls, poverty alleviation, climate change advocacy and good governance, and social accountability
Accreditation Program Phases
1. Application
NGOs can express their interest in accreditation through an online application form, providing profiles on their goals and previous activities related to either empowering women and girls, poverty alleviation, climate change advocacy and good governance, and or social accountability
o NGOs must submit legal registration documents, transparent financial records, and evidence of activities aligning with the I-AAN objectives.
2. Comprehensive Evaluation
o The I-AAN team conducts a thorough assessment, which may include site visits, to review evidence of the NGO’s activity in their area of focus.
o Strict standards are applied, assessing the NGO’s commitment to human rights principles, professionalism, and adherence to its area of focus.
3. Training and Professional Development
o Workshops and training programs focus on project management, negotiation, citizen engagement, sustainable financing, and empowering women and girls, poverty alleviation, advocacy on climate change, good governance, social accountability, leadership development, strategic planning, and the following:
NGO Management
Grant and proposal writing
Constituting your board
Developing your Bylaws
Organizational Structure
Citizens Engagement
Grant sourcing
Government Relations/Civil Society
4. Accreditation Issuance
o A two-year accreditation certificate is awarded to NGOs that successfully pass the evaluation and training phases.
o Accreditation grants access to participate in the organization’s activities, such as international conferences and specialized workshops on its vision.
5. Ongoing Development and Monitoring
o Accredited NGOs are required to submit regular reports on their activities and to participate in evaluative events to maintain accreditation.
o Accreditation renewal occurs every two years, subject to a comprehensive review of the NGO’s activities and compliance with specified standards.
Accreditation Criteria
· Compliance with Local and International Laws: NGOs must be legally registered and adhere to international standards of conduct.
· Transparency and Accountability: NGOs must maintain transparent financial and administrative systems.
